Frequantly asked questions and things you might like to know.

How do you pronounce your name?

Mispronunciation of my name is quite common, so you don't have to feel bad. Staphorst is my maiden name. We’ve heard it all. ”Stapford”, “Staphurst”, “Stafhurst”, etc. - most of the time, everything but the correct pronunciation. It is actually quite simple. It can be pronounced in Afrikaans. The “ph” is not pronounced as an “f”, but rather as two syllables: “Stap” and “horst”. It is indeed a very rare surname. Staphorst is also a small Calvinist town in the Netherlands, however my grandfather was not from this town. He was born and raised in Haarlem, about 150km away from Staphorst. My grandfather, who sadly past away a decade before I was born, returned to the Netherlands after a visit in South Africa, longing to return again because he fell in love with the sunny South African weather. Short before the break out of World War II, with the 100 Pounds in his pocket he had to present to gain access into the country, my grandfather returned to South Africa. Short after returning the South Africa, the war broke out. Dutch citizens were required to return home to enroll as soldiers to fight the war, however he had no interest in going back. So rather than returning home to the Netherlands, he fled, traveling around South Africa in hiding under an alias. And when he finally settled in Port Elizabeth, he rented a room in a block, less than 100 meters from my absolute favorite spot in Port Elizabeth, which is also where the picture at the top, the one of my husband and I holding hands, was captured on our wedding day.

Where are you based?

I am based in my home town Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape in South Africa, but I am available to travel wherever your love story may go.

Yes of course, I can help with that. I love going on drives in search for unique spaces where I haven't taken photos before. Whether you would like to take photos in an ocean or forest type of environment, or a city space, I can help you with your vision for your photo session.

How long after my photo session will I receive my photos?

The waiting period for your wedding or elopement photos may be anywhere between 8 and 12 weeks after your photo session. For lifestyle sessions, the waiting period is 2 weeks.

May I have all the unedited RAW photo files of my photo session?

A lot of time and effort goes into carefully choosing the most emotionally filled moments captured and editing these chosen photos to their full visual potential. I view every photo as a piece of art that showcases genuine emotion that would move you. Therefore, under no circumstances, do I hand over unedited files.
